Bizkaia:talent will participate in Naturejobs Career Expo, hosted for the ninth time in London

The Association bizkaia:talent will participate for the fifth year in the ninth Naturejobs Career Expo to be held in the Business Design Centre in London on 18 September, representing Basque organizations with highly qualified  staff hiring needs.

Naturejobs Career Expo is the most important scientific employment fair held in the United Kingdom aimed at graduates, PhD students and postdocs in Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Medicine, as well as young university students who are seeking a career change. The aim is to promote Europe as a place to develop a career in science, either in industrial research, in research organizations or at university. Thus, this event is a meeting place for the best opportunities from the best public, private, national and international organizations.

Work methodology

Bizkaia:talent, which will have its own stand, will attend this international event with the aim of locating and recruiting highly qualified professionals and researchers  in strategic areas for our Historical Territory, with special emphasis on Basque professionals who are living in or around London, as well as promoting and informing about the highly qualified employment opportunities offered by our territory.

New collaboration opportunities

The trip to London will also give bizkaia:talent the opportunity to organize an event on Friday afternoon, 18 September 2015, so as to get to know and establish a first contact as well as briefly introduce some of the services and programmes offered by bizkaia:talent to highly qualified Basque professionals living in or around London.

2014 Event

In 2014, bizkaia:talent represented several Basque organizations such as CIC energiGUNE, CIC bioGUNE, Biophysics Foundation, Gestamp, Achucarro (Basque Center for Neuroscience), Bcam (Basque Center for Applied Mathematics) or BC3 (Basque Center for Climate Change) among others, so as to recruit and attract top professionals in the areas of science and technology.

Some of the professionals sought by the organizations of Bizkaia-Basque Country, according to their qualifications, were: PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related fields (Expertise in the design, optimization and assembly of battery and supercapacitor cells), PhD in Engineering or related fields (Expertise in the design, optimization, construction and start-up of laboratory scale thermal energy storage facilities), PhD in Solid-state Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or related fields (Expertise in the design and synthesis of polymeric electrolytes), MS in Physics or Chemistry, (Electron microscopy and related spectroscopy techniques applied to electrochemistry for Batteries and Supercaps)…

More than 50 exhibitors participated in the previous fair, the eighth, from countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Poland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Qatar or Singapore. It brought together over 1,200 attendees of 95 different nationalities. It is worth mentioning that 45% of the participants have doctoral degrees and in spite of the fact that 77% of the attendees are currently working in the academic world, nearly half of the researchers would be interested in developing professionally in the industrial sector.

bizkaia:talent also had its own stand in the previous fair where we dealt with the concerns and requests of over 250 researchers interested in the 18 professional vacancies presented, as well as in working in our Historical Territory.
